Energy Needs: Texas Leads Rest of the States

It seems illogical just to be a follower, but sometimes it is a good decision to follow others especially when there is a guaranteed result behind it. You can save your time, money and many other things in such a practice. Sometimes, it’s really a good decision not to repeat what others have done before us. The state of Texas is famous for so many things and cheap energy is one of them. It was a direct result of the implementation of energy deregulation in Texas which provided power customers in Texas with more options to fulfill their energy needs. This created competition among retail Electricity Provider (REPs) and brought about positive changes for energy consumers in Texas.

Energy deregulation simply means that now power consumers have more options for their energy needs and they can move to any energy supplier for this purpose. Before 2002, it was not so in Texas and it brought about a cut in the electricity and gas bills for energy consumers. It also brought new jobs for Texans. A competition among Electricity Providers and as a result consumers’ energy needs fulfillment at low prices was the core motive behind this energy deregulation in Texas. Since it was a successful practice implemented by the state of Texas, it was implemented in other states as well. Thus Texas became a lead in energy consumption market.

To foster energy needs of its citizens, further strategies have been in practice and state of Texas has been working on energy renewable sources. Thus, if other states are implementing energy deregulation to gain results through raising a completion among its retail energy providers (REPs), Texas is far ahead. There are debates that energy deregulation was a failure in Texas, but as a matter of fact, energy deregulation did pay energy consumers in Texas and it’s successfully heading forward leading rest of the states.
